June has seen the relaunch of a recognised ‘high street’ offer but once again, is this deal as good as it first seems?
One of James’s lessons came in to see him and ask if he could get somewhere near the offer he had been given by a local well known ‘shop in driving range’ as he was thinking of changing his irons. The offer is outlined below:
He had been told his old irons were valued at £90 and this would be doubled to £180 if he were to choose a new set. James valued the customers part exchange using our normal valuation process and his irons were actually worth £140, so if that were to be ‘doubled’ as advertised he should have been offered £280.
So at the moment he is only £40 better off.  We then priced up the new irons the customer was looking at, our shelf price was the same as had been quoted but our members price reduced the deal by a further £5.00 per club, with 4-PW required the saving was an extra £40.00 so the bottom line price we offered including the trade-in was identical to the supposed “double trade-in” offer.
